The River Shannon and Lough Ree offer wonderful leisure possibilities for all ages. There are many superb golf courses, great horse-riding opportunities, country walks and historical attractions both in Athlone itself and in the surrounding area.

The Left Bank Bistro is located just a stone's throw from the Dean Crowe Hall, host to a programme of theatrical productions, including the annual All-Ireland Drama Festival. Taispaintas, the fashion show for up-and-coming designers, is also held annually in Athlone.

One of Athlone's greatest assets is its location right in the centre of Ireland with easy access from all areas. Huge development has already taken place in the town and more is planned.

A town that once turned its back on the River Shannon is now beginning to address it, at last taking advantage of a wonderful natural facility.
